 Most
peoples' shopping needs can be catered for within
Flachau itself. There are two good
supermarkets for the bulk of your groceries but
there are also two excellent bakeries in Flachau
plus one in Reitdorf.
For local produce, such
as fruit, keep an eye out for roadside
stalls. These are usually good quality and
good value.
There is also the "Milch
Automat" (see picture on right) for buying
fresh milk straight from the farmer in quantities
as small as 250ml.
For sporting goods and
clothes there are many outlets selling and renting
ski gear in the winter and more general sportswear
in the summer. Bicycles can be hired from
Sport2000 (main road) or Fun & Pro (near Star
Jet lift) - we can recommend the excellent
personal service in Sport2000.
It is worth remembering
that, unlike the UK, nearly all shops (including
the large supermarkets) are closed all day
on Sunday. However, restaurants and bars are
still open for business.
