Our
Review
Filzmoos
is a compact resort with slopes coming right down into
the village. The valley is absolutely beautiful
and it's worth going just for that. The ski area is divided into two by a
small road running from Eben to Ramsau and then on to
Schladming. On one side of the valley there is a
gondola servicing a red run and a black run. On
the other side (Neuberg) there are two modern chairlifts and 5
drag lifts servicing the rest of the terrain. This
side is also very sunny. Snow coverage is mixed
bag...we've been there during a long warm spell when the
sunny Neuberg slopes were bald. However, we've
also had some awesome powder days there with hardly
anyone else around (even though Flachau was busy).
It's definitely one to think about if it's just dumped
with snow as the low piste traffic means the powder
lasts longer.
It would
also be a great place to learn to ski,
but for intermediates it can only really be recommended
for half a days skiing.
Getting
There
To get
there by car from Flachau head down the A10 motorway to
Eben (5 mins, 1 junction). Drive through Eben and
on up the valley. After 10 mins you'll arrive in
Filzmoos. There are also some buses from Flachau,
but not every day - see Tourist Office for info.
