Review
Why
is there an aeroplane at the bottom of the piste?
Tarvisio
is an Italian skiing resort nestled in the borders
between Italy, Austria and Slovenia making it great fun
for a day visit. It is a small resort under going
big investment. It has a new high speed gondola
which whisks you to the top of the mountain an the
beautiful village of Monte Santo di Lussari.
Tarvisio
has enough slopes to fill a reasonably paced day and the
nursery slopes are particularly good in terms of width
and number of drags. Having said this however some
of the chairs were quite difficult for snowboarders to
dismount with steep drop offs resulting in some
spectacular tumbles. Some areas of the mountain
were also difficult to access if you weren't up to black
piste standard.
The
variety of restaurants is good and there are some
fantastic views across the Triglav National Park.
My lasting memory of Tarvisio will be a group of Irish
girls singing their way around the resort with their
instructor.
