Local Swims...

Reitdorf See

This small natural lake is located in Reitdorf next to Flachau.  It is great for a relaxing swim and sunbathe.  There are extensive lawns and a cafe serving snacks and drinks.  Because this lake is one of the smaller in the area it is usually nice and warm.  Entry is free.  The temperature when we swam here on 15-Jul-06 was 24oC.  The fountain in the middle was a rather chilly 12oC.  The water temperature when we swam here on 16-Sep-06 had fallen to 16oC (small lake...heats up quickly in summer but cools down quickly in Autumn).

Flachauwinkl See

Located on the road from Flachau to Flachauwinkl this natural lake has been developed for the purpose of swimming and relaxing.  The facilities include a bar and restaurant (Seesteuberl), high ropes course, two volley ball courts (one in the water), diving platform, childrens' area and purpose built steps into the water.  Entry is free.  The temperature when we swam here on 16-Jul-06 was 19.5oC.

Eben See

This is a constructed lake with stunning views all around, it has good lawns for sunbathing, a childrens' area and slide, two diving boards, a beach volleyball court and cafe.  A small entry fee is charged.

Schlosshof - St Johann

A small privately owned lake in a peaceful location.  Activities are focussed purely around swimming and sunbathing although there is a cafe.  A small entry fee is charged.

Jägersee

This is not a designated swimming lake and having tried it we can see why - it was very cold due to its altitude and obvious flow of ice cold water from the mountains, but the locals enjoyed watching our efforts!  Give it a go if you are tough enough!!

Pichl Badsee

Pichl Badsee

Pichl is a small village on the way to Schladming.  You can cycle there along the Enns Radweg and the Badsee is on the cycle trail.  This a man-made swimming lake with a small entrance fee.  There are some nice diving platforms, a beach-volleyball court and plenty of grassy areas for sunbathing.

Tappenkarsee

Tappenkarsee

Tappenkarsee is hidden high up in the mountains above Jägersee.  The walk up from Jägersee is steep and takes about 2 hours.  The lake is cold, although strangely not as cold as Jägersee.  However, after a long hot walk up there a quick dip is irresistible.  There are also 2 restaurants by the lake.
